Gettysburg Orphanage
Historical research / supporting evidence
The Gettysburg Orphanage property is associated with the National Homestead orphanage established after the Battle of Gettysburg. The orphanage housed children who lost parents during the Civil War.
The site later became controversial due to reports of abuse by the headmistress, Rosa Carmichael. Historical accounts and later testimonies describe severe punishments and mistreatment of the children who lived there. These reports eventually led to investigations and Carmichael being removed from her position.
Because of the tragic history connected to the property and the experiences reported by visitors over the years, the site has become widely known within the paranormal community.
Common reports from investigators and visitors include:
• voices or EVP responses believed to be children
• shadow figures or dark forms
• feelings of unease or oppressive energy
• unexplained sounds such as footsteps or movement
The combination of historical events and reported experiences has made the Gettysburg Orphanage one of the more frequently discussed investigation sites in the Gettysburg area.

Session notes
The Jennie Wade House has been visited and investigated by our group multiple times during trips to Gettysburg. Despite the strong reputation of the location as a haunted site, our investigations there have produced very little activity.
Across multiple visits no substantial paranormal events have been experienced that could be considered strong evidence. Spirit box sessions, environmental monitoring, and general observation during investigations have not produced significant results.
While the location remains historically important and widely known within the paranormal community, our experiences suggest that reported paranormal activity at this location may be overstated compared to other sites in Gettysburg.

Blue Mist Road Trail
Session notes
Investigation conducted around 2:00 AM along the Blue Mist Road trail in North Park.
Primary activity came through SB7 spirit box sessions. Words and phrases heard included “witch,” “demon,” and “protection.” One response suggested a statement about a husband killing his family, though the exact wording was not documented at the time.
No REM pod activity was observed during the session. A K2 meter spike did occur, but this was later attributed to overhead power lines in the area and is considered debunked.
The overall atmosphere did not feel heavily oppressive, but there was a consistent sensation reported of being watched. The presence felt more observational than aggressive.
While walking back from the trail, a spotlight was used to scan the wooded area. At one point, a large dark figure was observed near a tree. Multiple witnesses saw the figure at the same time. After a brief moment and a second look, the figure was no longer visible.
No additional physical evidence was captured during this event.

Blue Mist Road Trail
Historical research / supporting evidence
The area referred to as “Blue Mist Road” is a locally named wooded trail within North Park and is not an official road. The park was established in 1927 on former farmland and there are no confirmed historical records of violent crimes, ritual activity, or family murders occurring at this specific location.
However, the phrases heard during the session align closely with common local legends associated with the area. These include:
• stories of a “witch” said to be connected to the woods
• references to dark or negative entities, often described as “demonic”
• claims involving violent acts, including family-related tragedies
• recurring mentions of protection or warnings during investigations
These themes are frequently reported by visitors and investigators despite the lack of verified historical documentation supporting them.
The alignment between the spirit box responses and commonly reported folklore suggests that the area’s reputation may influence the type of responses received, or that repeated reports over time have created consistent patterns in experiences.
At this time, there is no confirmed historical evidence supporting the specific events referenced during the session.
